It has been a common practice for actors and actresses to undergo some form of physical transformation depending on the role that they will portray. The same can be said for Michiel Huisman whose role preparations for his "Game of Thrones" character Daario Naharis has been recently revealed.
Avid viewers of the hit TV show "Game of Thrones" have seen Huisman portray a very fit and muscular Daario. However, the actor has had to undergo an intense workout plan to get his body ready for his HBO role. It appears that he enlisted the help of Aaron Williamson, a fitness professional, to keep himself in top shape.
Williamson has even unveiled a photo of Huisman's grueling gym time on social media. The fitness trainer took to Instagram to share a throwback picture of himself as he coached the actor during what appears to be a painful workout session, Digital Spy reported. In the said image, the "Game of Thrones" cast member appears to be having a hard time pulling on the handle of a gym machine.
The fitness trainer also mentioned that the actor previously had a skinny body. Fans may recall Huisman's slim figure in previous projects such as the TV series "Treme." Williamson stated that it took several months of physical training to get the Dutch celebrity all buffed up for his Daario role. He even revealed that "The Age of Adaline" trained with him every day prior to Huisman's HBO show debut.
Meanwhile, Huisman's character has been one of Daenerys' (Emilia Clarke) lovers in the HBO series. Daario has also served as the Queen of Dragons' adviser and her loyal warrior. However, the events of Season 6 has led Clarke's character to decide on leaving Daario behind in Mereen as she travels back to Westeros.
It is still unclear if Huisman will reprise his role in the upcoming "Game of Thrones" Season 7. Although he previously hinted at his character's potential return in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. However, he did not share a lot of details. The actor also commented that he has already prepared himself should his character die in the remaining two seasons of the show.
He made mention of how character deaths have been a part of the HBO series. "You're always expecting your character to die. You're not mentally preparing yourself for a very long haul," he stated.
"Game of Thrones" Season 7 is expected to premiere in summer 2017.
