"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Season 4 premieres on Sept. 20.

In the last season of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy (Melissa Fumero) took their relationship to the next level by finally moving in together. But where will their relationship go in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Season 4?

Jake and Captain Holt are going into the witness protection program after they exposed Jimmy Figgs and his involvement with the mafia; however, their commendable act has put their lives in danger, and so they were informed that they were going to be placed somewhere where they will be safe from the mafia boss.

So how will the couple deal with the witness protection program? Andy Samberg told EW that while there are going to be some strains on their relationship, it won't put the entire romance in jeopardy.

"But they miss each other a lot. Eventually they will see each other again and it's hard for them to get back into sync," Samberg teased.  Jake and Amy will be apart for six months, with Jake spending time in Florida. There might be some tension when they finally reunite and Jake might find it difficult to immediately re-connect with everyone once he's out.

But the effects of the witness protection program on Jake and Amy's relationship is not the main concern of fans for now. With the show pulling the brakes in the whole "will they or won't they" drama, fans are worried that the show might suffer from the Moonlighting Curse.

The Moonlighting Curse is a dreaded term in mainstream television whereby the show will see a sudden drop in ratings after TV characters finally confirm their relationship status in the show.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" executive producer Dan Goor is confident that such won't be the cast with the show, explaining that the "will they or won't they" tension between Jake and Amy was not the central conflict of the show.

"It's just an element of it. Hopefully there are many other angles still to play and hopefully we're able to bring comedy to that relationship," Goor told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's not like every episode is going to be a Jake and Amy episode."

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Season 4 premieres on Sept. 20.
