Apple senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller announces the new 9.7" iPad pro during an Apple special event at the Apple headquarters on March 21, 2016 in Cupertino, California. The company announced updates to its iPhone and iPad lines

iPad Pro 2 was one of the devices snubbed at Apple's recent release event, but it does not come as a surprise as the latest rumors of the giant phablet is not expected to be unveiled anytime this year.

Ming Chi-Kuo, a reputable analyst said that the new iPad Pro will be launched in 2017 alongside a smaller version with a 10.5-inch display, Mac Rumors reported.

The iPad Pro 2 plus the said 10.5-inch version, which Kuo says "will be helpful to bid for tenders in the education and commercial markets," will come with the new A10X processor under the hood.

According to Bloomberg, in addition, the iPad Pro 2 will get some additional features care of iPad-centric software updates to be integrated on the iOS 10.

One of these upgrades will have to do with the highly rumored Apple Pencil, which will be made with professionals in mind. This will be done by making it a drawing and handwriting stylus.

Apple is also allegedly looking into giving the iPad Pro 2 users the ability to annotate objects in various applications like the Mail, iMessage and the Safari web browser in the iPad Pro 2.

Already Apple Pencil enables this, but only on specific applications. The Redmond-based company is looking to make it a full-fledged spec on the iOS 10.

Meanwhile, the iPad Pro 2 is also rumored to sport faster display technology, which will make for faultless panning, zooming and scrolling.

While the iPad was snubbed in the event on Sept. 7, Apple actually did some tweaks on some of those available on the market but did not reveal them on stage.

One is that the original iPad Pro is now cheaper with the 256GB model getting a $100 discount and 128GB version $50 less. Apple now offers the 32GB version as the base model for the tablets and the best part is that they come with the same price as the 16GB versions.

For now, there is no more 64GB versions for the iPad mini 4 as the tablet and the Air 2 come in 32GB and 128GB. The iPad mini 2 now has only one version, which is 32GB.

As for the iPad Pro 2, the device is speculated to be released March 2017.
