Los Angeles law enforcement is working on an investigation with regard to the theft of the Oscar pearl-adorned dress of actress Lupita Nyong'o that is worth around $150,000. Nyong'o wore the pricey pearl-gown at the Academy Awards on Sunday.
The Sheriff's office got a call at around 11:30PM on Wednesday that an expensive dress that is worth $150,000 went missing from the London West Hollywood Hotel room explained Lt.William Nash from the West Hollywood sheriff's station, LA Times reported.
The pricey gown was adorned with 6000 natural expensive white pearls, and was taken from the hotel while Nyong'o was out of the room. The pearl studded gown was custom made by Francisco Costa, a Calvin Klein Collection dress.
Nyong'o won Best Supporting Actress the previous year for the movie "Twelve Years A Slave" and she was a presenter at said the awards night. She was names the most beautiful person of 2014 by People Magazine.
Lt. Nash disclosed that the mentioned expensive dress was stolen from the actress' hotel room and that law enforcement at already checking the CCTV recorded video.
Nyong'o told reports that she only wanted it to be a homage to the sea and she was only wearing her diamonds and pearls.
"I'm just wearing my diamonds and pearls. My homage to (musician) Prince," according to Nyong'o. "We talked about it being fluid and liquid. I wanted it to be an homage to the sea," she explained about the dress.
No arrests have been made as of yet and Calvin Klein has not commented as well.
