Warner Bros. dropped the new trailer of the "Death Note: Light Up The New World" that revealed the central plot of the new live action movie.

The new villain, which is a hacker, told Amane Misa (Erika Toda) that "Light Yagami lives". Yuuki Shien believes he is the successor to Kira. Detective Ryuuzaki, who is L's successor, is on the case to bring down Shien, who is a new quirky detective dubbed as L's successor.

In the original story, Misa survived while Light and L battled it out till the end and the two died. However, it seemed that the writers branched out one of the plots and explore a new storyline. The new Death Note movie is a sequel of the first two movies - "Death Note" and "Death Note: The Last Name" - which were both released in 2006.

The latest trailer showed new characters in the crime thriller, including a new protagonist and antagonist. There is also a new Shinigami or death reaper. In line with this, the video clip revealed that the movie will center on Six-Note Rule stated in the Death Note, which states that only six Death Notes can exist at a time on Earth. This means that more death reapers will be wandering the earth.

Death Note fans meet the new movie with excitement, which is rare for live action adaptation and despite the absence of main characters people have grown to love. The movie will hit Japanese theaters on October 29.
