Jason Statham is in Auckland, New Zealand to film for his upcoming big budget killer shark movie, "Meg." He has been spotted by the people hanging around the suburb, dining at local food hotspots, buying groceries from stores and dropping by cafes.
The Hollywood superstar is renting a five-bedroom house in the harbor side while in Auckland. It is believed he has been staying at the Westmere property for over a week.
Statham's abode in New Zealand has big entertaining areas and an infinity swimming pool. It includes an outdoor dining area with a designer furniture as well as an oblong-shaped fireplace, pool table and a big television screen. Sitting on a waterfront section of over a quarter acre, the property is designed by Ponting Fitzgerald's architect, David Ponting, the Herald reported.
Statham's rented luxury house is listed with a price of $20 million with Graham Wall Real Estate. It was once visited by Prince Labert of Monaco and his wife Princess Charlene.
Statham is known for his appearance in several action thrillers, such as "Transformers," "Snatch," "Furious 7," "Fast 8" and recently, "The Mechanic: Resurrection." He visited the Cup and Bun café in Grey Lynn on Sept. 16, Friday, and posed for a photo with the café owner. His cameo appearance in that café in central Auckland was in a way less explosive than his action-filled performances on screen.
"The Mechanic" actor just casually strolled into the store bringing a bag of veggies, and appeared relaxed with his macchiato, which he seemed to like. He was not harassed by people and was just on his own, though he spent a few minutes of chit-chats and photo poses. It is unlikely though that he will speak to the media while in Auckland, according to Stuff.
The modern-day action star is on social media as people posted their photos with him online. Model and presenter Anna Reeve also bumped into the "Meg" actor and managed to get a selfie with him for her husband Jay, who is a big fan of Statham.
Statham's upcoming sci-fi film "Meg" is based on the 1997 novel "Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror." The film also stars Ruby Rose who appeared in "Orange is the New Black."
