Middlesbrough is currently settled at the 13th spot of the English top flight table after going on a three-game winless slide, which included two straight defeats in their last two matches.

Head coach Aitor Karanka's team was thrashed by streaking squad Everton, 1-3, last Saturday on the road at the Goodison Park to succumb to their second consecutive loss, as per Daily Mail Online.

An own goal by Everton goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg actually opened the scoring at the 21st minute of the match for the Boro, but it proved to be just a signal of the Toffees' onslaught that is to come.

Midfielder Gareth Barry leveled the count at the 24th before defender Seamus Coleman made it a 2-1 game at the 42nd as Everton took control. Striker Romelu Lukaku then hit the finishing goal during the first half stoppage time to reach the final score of 3-1 as both teams went scoreless in the second half.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur nipped struggling club Sunderland, 1-0, at their home ground of White Hart Lane last Sunday for their second straight win, Goal reported.

Resident striker Harry Kane scored the winning goal for head coach Mauricio Pochettino's men at the 59th minute as the Spurs stayed undefeated after five games in the current season.

Tottenham is now at solo third place in the overall standings after both Chelsea and Manchester United dropped to fifth and seventh respectively following their round 5 loses. The team is a point above fourth-place team Arsenal and two points behind second-running club Everton.

Pochettino's side is the overwhelming favorite to prevail over Karanka's boys in this match.
