Stan Lee attends the premiere of Marvel's 'Captain America: Civil War' at Dolby Theatre on April 12, 2016 in Los Angeles, California.

Marvel Comics' legend Stan Lee will be introducing a brand new superhero called "Monkey Master." The new character will be created for a titular Indo-Chinese co-production.

Lee will be collaborating with Liquid Comics' Sharad Devarajan, with whom he teamed up to create Indian superhero "Chakra: The Invincible." Lee's media company POW! Entertainment is also joining forces with China's Shinework Pictures for the upcoming project with India's Cinema Capital Advisory on board as co-producers, Variety reported.

Shinework will be represented by Jonathan Shen, Iris Wang and Daljit DJ Parmar along with Gill Champion, CEO of POW! Entertainment. Lee, Devaranjan and Samir Gupta from Cinema Capital Advisory will serve as executive producers.

The film is mainly intended for the Chinese masses but will be developed keeping other international markets in mind. The Chinese superhero flick's main cast will comprise of actors from China, India, and other international talents.

The film's plot, set between ancient and modern-day China and India, will be inspired by monkey warrior myths from both cultures. This will create a hero that will "entertain fans across the world with his martial arts skills and unstoppable superpowers," Lee said in a statement obtained by China Film Insider

"We are excited to leverage Stan Lee's experience creating some of the world's most popular superhero characters to create an epic Chinese superhero film that will not only appeal to China but also globally to international markets," added Shen.

Although the film's casting has not yet started, a "western director" is reportedly going to be roped in for the Chinese superhero flick. The project is expected to go into production towards the end of 2017.

This Indian-Chinese co-production is not the first of its kind. Other Indo-Chinese films include Jackie Chan star "Kung Fu Yoga," "Buddies in India," starring Wang Baoqiang, and "Xuanzang," which follows the story of a Chinese monk who takes a 17-year journey to bring Buddhism from India to China. Watch the film's trailer below:
