"Outlander" Season 3's production is presently underway, but its air date has been moved to April 2017 to accommodate for the changes of locations. Starz picked up two seasons, and it is now working on scripts and production of book three and four at the same time.
When "Outlander" Season 3 returns, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) will see each other in Scotland, where the settings of the show is mostly based. However, Diana Gabaldon's "Voyager" will be moving places and will be reaching the Carribean.
"Our home base will always be Scotland," executive producer Ronald D. Moore told Entertainment Weekly. "We're looking at various options for where to shoot the ships and where to find tropical beaches and jungles to play the Caribbean section of the story. Hopefully, we'll find a place that has both things at once so we'll only have to make one big trip for the company."
Moore classifies Season 3 as a "traveling show," where viewers could expect to see a waterworld-like "Outlander." The official synopsis of "Outlander" Season 3 will see Claire returning to her life in 1948 to her first husband Frank. She will struggle with her own feelings to be away with Jamie while she is pregnant with her child with Frank, according to Starz Media Room.
Jamie feels defeated after the historic battle of Culloden. His loneliness is incomparable as he also suffers the loss of Claire. Both Jamie and Claire will be separated by time and continents, but the last hope to come back to each other still remains in their hearts.
Viewers can expect a much-anticipated reunion between Jamie and Claire in "Outlander" Season 3. While they are apart, they will face their own adversities, mysteries and challenges. When they see each other at the right time, the question is whether they remain the same people they were before.
In terms of cast additions, the Emmy-nominated hit original series is welcoming John Bell to play the young Ian Murray and Wil Johnson as Joe Abernathy. The two actors will not be sharing the same screen because both of them will be appearing in separate timelines.
Abernathy will be with Claire in the 20th century in Boston, where the two will be friends and medical colleagues. On he other hand, the young Murray will be meeting Jamie in the 18th century in "Outlander" Season 3. Australian actor David Berry was newly cast as Lord John Grey in the show.
The new season will air on April 1, 2017. Check out Heughan while filming for the new season of "Outlander"
