Top Reasons to Forget HTC Pixel, Pixel XL and Stick to LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P

Google will reportedly unveil its new flagships called Pixel and Pixel, both made b HTC, on October 4th but ahead of the revelation Android fans have a clear picture of the things to expect - thanks to the abundance of leaks. And the details known so far seem to suggest that it's best to stick with the Nexus 2015 versions.

In a comparison table shared by Android Central (based on leaked and rumored specifications), a close look will reveal that while both the Pixel handsets will out-spec the LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P the line separating between the two set of phone models is not too glaring.

Specs-wise, the HTC phones will certainly enjoy some advantages - more powerful Snapdragon chip, higher RAM provisions and slightly bumped up camera - but it doesn't mean that the last year's Nexus will be eating dust in terms of performance. In fact, depending on usage the level of performance will largely be the same experience.

And it should be noted that the Nexus 2015 handsets are on the same zone that the Pixel phones are in - nearly identical display technology or rendering and almost the same battery size.

As for the features, speculations point to the Pixel and Pixel XL unboxing with Android 7.1 Nougat while the Nexus 5X and 6P will remain on the 7.0 version. This suggests that for a time, the newer Google phones will be step ahead of its older brothers but not for long.

It is inevitable that Android 7.1 will soon reach the old Nexus and any other Android devices as that is the basic design of the OS so whatever advantages that the Pixels will enjoy will in no time disappear. Soon, it will be a level playing field for the Nexus 2015 and the new Pixel smartphones as far as Android features and functionalities are concerned.

But really the one deal-breaker that will come with the Pixel and Pixel XL is the asking price. Google has yet to confirm but reports indicate that the basic cash damage for the new handsets will amount to $650 and the price will only go up when looking to step up.

For those that will be easily satisfied by the old-gen but still functional Nexus 5X and 6P, the immediate benefits are clear - savings while enjoying virtually the same mobile device experience, called by Google as Nexus last year and only rebranded to Pixel this 2016.

Already, the Nexus 2106 phones are the subject of tempting deals and discounts and surely the sticker price for the Stock Android smartphones will only get lower once the Google Pixel and Pixel XL are finally revealed, which as mentioned will happen Tuesday next week.
