‘Fifty Shades Darker’: Are Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan Really Dating? - Here’s What Critics Think

Will "Fifty Shades Darker" deviate from the EL James novel?

Fans officially got a taste of "Fifty Shades Darker" with the release of its first official trailer. Even though the movie isn't out until 2017, there's already a lot of buzz surrounding the movie, especially since the lead stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan continue to be the subjects of dating rumors.

Ever since "Fifty Shades of Grey" came out, Johnson and Dornan have been the subjects of dating speculations. The chemistry they showed on screen is evidently convincing and has translated into dating rumors.

Because of the nature of the movie and his scenes with Johnson, it was even rumored that Dornan's wife, Amelia Warner, did not want him to return for "Fifty Shades Darker." Mirror reported that Dornan denied these allegations.

"Of course she would have read the scripts well in advance, and she's massively supportive of Fifty Shades," Dornan, who plays the movie's Christian Grey, clarified.

A more recent rumor is that Dornan and Warner's marriage is falling apart, and that the 34-year-old actor is living in a house separate from his family. Moreover, it is suggested that Dornan and Dakota might make the big reveal about their secret relationship at the premiere of "Fifty Shades Darker" next year.

Reports liken Dornan and Warner's split to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's divorce. The former power couple also allegedly broke up because of Pitt's secret affair with "Allied" co-star Marion Cotillard. In the case of Dornan and Warner's rumored divorce, Johnson is cited as the third party.

As for Johnson, she broke up with ex-boyfriend Matthew Hitt just around the time "Fifty Shades of Grey" made it to the big screen, The Daily Mail reported. She was recently linked to her "Under The Silver Lake" co-star Andrew Garfield. Although filming for the movie hasn't started, sources say the stars have kept in contact through phone calls and video chat. It was also said that Johnson and Garfield already share inside jokes and cannot wait to start filming together.

However, critics suggest that the rumors are only a ploy by the movie's promoters to draw more people in and that it is basically a publicity stunt.

"Fifty Shades Darker" hits theaters on Feb. 14, 2017.
