Samsung Galaxy S6 being launched in Barcelona on Sunday

On Sunday the Samsung Galaxy S6 was officially launched by Samsung at the Mobile World Congress 2015 underway in Barcelona, reported PC Magazine. We will take a quick look at the official specifications for this new product as reported by Expert Reviews magazine.

Processor: Samsung has discontinued with the Qualcomm processor that had been used in previous versions of this phone and has now installed its own quad-core 2.1GHz Exynos SoC. Because of its technical features this processor is expected to consume less power than past processors. This has become necessary as the battery that the S6 will carry is of 2550 mAH, while the outgoing S5 phone had a battery size of 2800 mAH. This change has become necessary because of the change in the design of the phone. The RAM on the new S6 is 3GB of LPDDR4.

Charging: Charging may be done by both USB and wireless, with both, WPC and PMA, standards available.

Screen: Even though the screen size of the Galaxy S6 is the same as that of the Galaxy S5 the resolution of the screen has now been enhanced to the new QHD standard. Thus screen resolution on the new S6 is 2,560x1,440 (QHD), which implies a pixel density of 577 ppi. This makes the new S6's screen resolution significantly higher than most of its competitors in the market.

Design: It is now confirmed that the new Galaxy S6 has a metal and glass body. This means that Samsung has now officially discontinued with the basic plastic design that had been a standard on all Samsung devices for a very long time. This is indeed a significant departure for Samsung. Customers may certainly expect a radically new look-and-feel from this phone that will compete well with the best there is elsewhere in this market.
