KBS to air special episode following 'Moonlight Drawn by Clouds' finale

Good news to all "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" fans. In order to show appreciation for the huge amount of love and support the historical drama has received, KBS 2TV has decided to air a special episode following its finale.

The good news came to light when a source from the historical drama spilled the beans to Naver TV on Oct. 7, Friday. It is said that KBS 2TV will air the making-of clips of "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" on Oct. 18 at 11:10 PM (KST).

It came two weeks after it was learned that "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" will not be extended and will only air 18-episode as initially planned. It was reported that the broadcasting giant discussed the possibility of extending the historical drama but decided not to.

"Moonlight Drawn by Clouds," which premiered on Aug. 22, managed to maintain its top spot as the most watched drama in the Monday-Tuesday timeslot. The show's continuous increase in viewership ratings is credited to its strong story content and Park Bo-Gum and Kim Yoo-Jung's undeniable on-screen chemistry.

Due to its immense popularity, KBS Media acquired the rights to adapt "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" into a musical production. The said adaptation is the first musical ever produced by the said company.

"It's true that we acquired the musical rights," a source from KBS Media told local newsoutlet Inews24, as cited by Soompi. "We are currently in the stage of planning for a musical production. Although KBS Media has been a drama production company, we hope to make a mark on the musical industry with this production."

Based on the web novel of the same name, "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" tells the story of a 19-year-old Crown Prince Lee Yeong's (Park) growth from a boy to a respected ruler. It also follows his improbable romance with one of his eunuch Hong Ra-On (Kim).

Helmed by program director Kim Sung-Yoon, the 18-episode historical drama also stars Jinyoung, Chae Soo Bin, Kwak Dong Yeon, Kim Seung Su and Jeon Mi Sun.
