The mother of Chinese pop singer Jane Zhang was apparently hurt by learning only through the newspaper that she would marry fiancé Michael Feng in November in Italy. Zhang’s studio and Feng, CEO of Show City Times, which manages her, confirmed the wedding a few days ago.

However, Zhang Guiying, the singer’s mother published on Sunday an open letter hitting her future son-in-law, Chinaentertainmentnews reported. She said she learned about Jane’s wedding only when family members and friend called and informed her of the news. Guiying added she has not heard one word from Jane.

The two met when Jane was 19, and when she told Guiying of her plan to marry Feng, the mother warned her daughter the man might not be trustworthy. Feng at that time was married to another woman, but he told Jane he was divorced for three years already.

Guiying also accused Feng of allegedly tampering their shares at Show City Times which initially was 20 percent, while Feng held only 10 percent and 70 was held by Jane from April 2012 to September 2013. The mother claims that by July 2014, her shares had gone down to 5 percent, Jane to 35 percent, while Feng’s shares went up to 60 percent.

But Guiying insisted she does not care about money and only hopes for a happy life for Jane. She believes Feng does not love her daughter and only wants to control Jane’s wealth and make her his money-making machine.

In response to Guiying’s rant, Feng replied online to her on Sunday. “I want to apologize to Jane Zhang's mother for involving her in such tabloid stuff," Feng said. "We had communicated with her about the wedding and Jane Zhang wished to adopt an approach of taking time and using sincerity and patience to gain her mother's blessing,” he wrote.

Feng explained the changes in company share structure to financing and development need. Despite the proportions of shares, he said the company belongs to them as a couple, and if he dies unexpectedly, Jane would own the entire estate. He added his divorce from his current wife is ongoing.

On the same day, Jane belied her mother’s accusation against her future husband, China.org reported. She wrote, “I’m not an idiot. I have my own direction in life to follow.”

In July 2015, Jane invited Feng to go up the stage at her concert in Changsha if he wanted to propose to her. He made an official proposal in October at Jane’s concert in Chengdu.

Jane placed third in “Super Girl,” a singing contest in China, and is known as “The Dolphin Princess” because of her unique voice with dolphin-like vocals.
