Middling club West Bromwich Albion FC (2-2-3, 9 points) will try to extend their three-game unbeaten run as they square off with top contenders Tottenham Hotspur FC (5-0-2, 17 points) in a 2016-2017 Premier League season game at the Hawthorns on Oct. 15, Saturday.

West Brom is currently in the middle of the overall standings, at the ninth spot, with nine points in seven games so far this season. They are tied on points with Southampton but has a greater goal difference to earn the higher place in the table.

The Baggies were held to their second consecutive drawn match by cellar-dwelling team Sunderland, 1-1, on the road at the Stadium of Light on Oct. 1, as per Chronicle Live.

Belgian winger Nacer Chadli opened the scoring for head coach Tony Pulis' men in the 35th minute of the match as he dribbled midfielder Matt Phillips' cross past defender Lamine Koné and calmly shot through the outstretched arms of Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford.

It looked like a win for West Brom as they continued to dominate possession and press the ball with time slowly running out in the contest.

However, the Black Cats were able to slip in the equalizer with only seven minutes left before full time with a goal from substitute defender Patrick van Aanholt via a give-and-go play with Duncan Watmore.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur handed league leaders Manchester City their first loss in the season with an impressive 2-0 win over the Citizens at the White Hart Lane on Oct. 2, BBC Sport reported.

An own goal from City's Aleksandar Kolarov in the ninth minute of the match opened the scoring for the Spurs. English midfielder Dele Alli then added another goal in the 37th minute to increase the lead to two points before the halftime break.

Both sides went scoreless in the second half as head coach Mauricio Pochettino's squad earned their fifth win in seven games, keeping themselves unbeaten so far in the season.
