Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter attends the Netflix Presents The Casts Of Marvel's Daredevil And Marvel's Jessica Jones At New York Comic-Con at Jacob Javits Center on October 10, 2015 in New York City.

Fans of the critically-acclaimed Netflix drama have to wait a bit longer before they finally see "Jessica Jones" Season 2. To give fans a taste of what Season 2 looks like, "Jessica Jones" showrunner Melissa Rosenberg is dropping some bombshells.

In "Jessica Jones" Season 1, Jessica (Krysten Ritter) experienced all the pains from her abuser, Kilgrave (David Tennant). She was kidnapped, raped, and held captive inside her own body, and it seems that these elements will remain as part of Season 2.

"She was kind of messed up even before Kilgrave came along," Rosenberg told Esquire. "In Season 2, we can explore what's possible for her moving forward."

"I learned from working on 'Dexter' that you can advance the character," the showrunner continued. "But you never want to cure the character."

"Jessica Jones" Season 2 will see Jessica still struggling with post-traumatic syndrome (PTSD), while slowly moving on with her life. Kilgrave is now in jail paying his offenses, but the scars that he brought to Jessica will continue to hunt her.

One of the most intriguing questions that fans wanted to be answered is whether or not Luke Cage (Mike Colter) will be returning to "Jessica Jones." After his character left off in Season 1, there is a possibility to see Luke in the second installment as per Rosenberg.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rosenberg hinted Luke's appearance in "Jessica Jones" Season 2, but it is not going to be like in the first installment. Since Luke is now busy with his own series, he will be absent in "Jessica Jones" as a regular, but he will still appear in a cameo role.

In terms of Season 2's air date, "Jessica Jones" will take a while before it airs. Rosenberg disclosed that the Marvel female superhero drama will premiere after the mashup miniseries "The Defenders," which cast Charlie Cox as the Daredevil, Finn Jones as Iron Fist, Ritter as Jessica and Colter as Luke.

"Jessica Jones" Season 2 will see the transformation of relationships. As the showrunner revealed, the second installment will be focusing on surprising elements to all the characters. One of the fascinating developments is Jessica's relationship with her adopted sister Trish (Rachael Taylor).

Season 2 is more likely to return late 2017 or early 2018. Netflix still has to make an announcement about the air date. Check out more updates about Season 2:
