Apple will reportedly release the MacBook Pro 2016 on October 27 with a lone 13-inch MacBook Air coming in several days after.

With October nearing the homestretch, the MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to be revealed soon. It turns out that the day to mark is the 27th with the MacBook Air expected to follow afterward.

Until now, there was no definite date given on when to expect the MacBook Pro 2016. A media event to be held on the 27th somewhere in Cupertino was dug up, something that will take place two days after Apple’s quarterly earnings announcement, Recode reported.

The MacBook Pro 2016 will reportedly come out in two variants, a 13-inch and 15-inch notebook. One of the changes to expect will include the removal of the USB ports, MagSafe 2 connector, and Thunderbolt 2 port, reminiscent of what Apple did for the 12-inch MacBook. Instead, the MacBook Pro 2016 will come with full USB-C, 9 to 5 Mac reported.

Aside from the MacBook Pro 2016 changes, all eyes will also be on a rumored feature which is the OLED touch bar strip which will take over from the traditional function keys. Also up in the air is the actual chipset the latest MacBook Pro refresh would carry.

While most see Intel’s Kaby Lake processors as the ideal one to use, it may all boil down to the stock of Kaby Lake processors Apple currently has on its end. A safe call would be to see the 13-inch variant sporting Skylake processors and saving the Kaby Lake SoC for the 15-inch high-end variants.

The MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to be thinner and clad in an aluminum shell. Other notable features to expect include a Force Touch trackpad, Touch ID, bigger storage and an improved battery to back up the power requirements required by the latest Apple laptop.

As far as the MacBook Air 2016 is concerned, the device will allegedly follow several days after the MacBook Pro 2016 debut. There will be only one variant to expect, a 13-inch model, with Apple axing the 11-inch variant.

The details for the MacBook Air are limited at this time though it the specs could be a notch lower than what the MacBook Pro 2016 will be carrying. Seen as a cheaper alternative customers turn to, the MacBook Air will likely use an Intel Skylake processor and USB-C connectivity options too.

The video rounds up the latest features and updates to the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016.
