Southampton, who is presently the second-best defensive team in the Premier League, has only lost once in their last six matches in the English top flight to climb to the ninth spot in the overall standings.

The Saints pulled off an impressive 1-1 draw with current league leaders Manchester City on the road at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday, as per Daily Mail Online.

Head coach Claude Puel's side had scored the first goal in the 27th minute of the contest as English striker Nathan Redmond intercepted a back pass by City defender John Stones and pulled off a brilliant one-on-one move against Claudio Bravo to slot in the ball from close range.

The Citizens were able to find the equalizer just 10 minutes after the restart when substitute forward Kelechi Iheanacho, who replaced a less than 100 percent Kevin De Bruyne at the break, directed midfielder Leroy Sane's pass beyond the outstretched arms of Fraser Forster.

Meanwhile, Chelsea creamed reeling contenders Manchester United, 4-0, at the Stamford Bridge also last Sunday to extend their winning run to three games so far, The Guardian reported.

Former Barcelona forward Pedro broke the deadlock just 30 seconds after the kickoff to score what was the fastest goal of the season so far. Defender Gary Cahill then doubled the lead in the 21st minute to give the hosts a 2-0 lead at the break.

Head coach Antonio Conte's squad continued their attack in the second half as Belgian winger Eden Hazard made it a 3-0 advantage with a strike in the 62nd. French midfielder N'Golo Kanté completed the Blues' four-goal haul in the 70th to seal the win for his side.
