With rumors flying that JYP will debut a new girl group next year, Jeon Somi is reportedly set to join the idol group and become the center.

16-year-old Jeon Somi was cut from the final line up of TWICE and was replaced by Momo who was eliminated earlier in the reality program. Now, with all of her experience from two reality shows as well as from IOI, she is set to debut with other female trainees of JYP.

JYP fans call the new girl group 6Mix and will be composed of the remaining Sixteen contestants - Chae sisters, Eunsuh, Natty, as well as new JYP trainees, Lily M., Yejin, Hanseol, and Mashiro.

Jeon Somi will be the center of the group because of her looks as well as her huge fanbase. Other rumors claimed that Somi will be added in TWICE. IOI is set to disband in 2017 and the fate of the members now lies to their respective agencies. Jeon Somi is signed by JYP and the future plans for her career remained unknown.

Other entertainment labels debuted or set to debut IOI members in their respective girl groups (Chaeyeon in DIA, Yeonjung in Cosmic Girls, Mina and Sejong in Gugudan, Pinky and Nayoung in Girlz). This seems to be the next step for the rest of the IOI members.

Grilled in Weekly Idol, JYP CEO Park Jinyoung explained why he cut Somi from the group the last minute. He compared Somi to an unfermented kimchi and he thinks that Somi seems out of place in the group.

However, with her gained experience from Sixteen, Produce 101, and IOI, it seems that Jeon Somi has fermented well and JYP will not let this opportunity to pass. As JYP debuted TWICE in October 2015, it is probably time for another girl group.
