WWE Rumors: Roman Reigns the next challenger for Kevin Owens' Universal Championship?

Roman Reigns taunts his opponent during an interview in an episode of Monday Night Raw.

Kevin Owens successfully defended his WWE Universal Championship at Hell in a Cell against Seth Rollins and it seems like he will have a new challenger in place. The latest rumors imply that Roman Reigns might be the next in line to face Owens for the Universal title at Survivor Series.

At Hell in a Cell on Sunday, KO and Rollins put on quite a match inside the unforgiving structure with Chris Jericho interfering on behalf of his best friend. Jericho also gave Rollins a Codebreaker after the match which means they will be feuding heading into the end of the year, per ESPN.

As for Owens and the Universal Championship, he might be heading into a new feud with Reigns, who is the current United States champion. In the very first episode of RAW Talk, the ripoff of SmackDown Live's Talking Smack, Reigns revealed that he wants to go after KO and the Universal title.

The promo itself planted the seeds of the next feud between The Prizefighter and The Big Dog for the top prize on Raw. Of course, it is something that fans do not want to see at the moment since Reigns will be in the spotlight once again.

According to The Inquisitr, the WWE is still trying to make Reigns look good if they proceed on the storyline with the Universal champion. The company has been doing all they can to make The Guy the next John Cena but they have failed in the past two-plus years.

Although nothing has been confirmed, the story between Reigns, Rollins, Owens and Jericho continued in the Halloween episode of Monday Night Raw. The Architect helped his former Shield brother in the main event.

Owens and Jericho were beating the crap out of Reigns when Rollins came in for the save with the two heels retreating to end the show. As of this writing, the WWE's plan seems to be Rollins wanting revenge from Y2J for screwing him out of the title and Owens vs. Reigns.

However, it should be noted that these are just rumors at the moment and should be taken with a grain of salt. The 30th edition of the Survivor Series will be an interpromotional event between Raw and SmackDown which means all the superstars mentioned could be very busy on November 20.
