WWE Chairman Vince McMahon speaks during the announcement of the WWE Network.

Vincent Kennedy McMahon has been the chairman of the World Wrestling Entertainment since 1980 when he took over the company from his father. However, the latest rumors imply that Vince McMahon is open to selling the WWE under one condition.

In the recent third quarter earnings call, McMahon was asked about a potential sale of his company. He said the company he is open to anything but he pointed out that he would want to still be in control of their product.

According to Wrestling Inc, the 71-year-old billionaire is unsure about selling the WWE because he does know if the new owners will give the McMahon family control of the creative side of the product. However, he pointed out that they are willing to listen to offers and noted that they are "open for business."

The sale of the WWE has been talked about in recent months since UFC was sold to new owners WME-IMG for $4 billion last July 9. Several reports have indicated that if ever the WWE will be sold, the price for it would be close to $3 billion.

However, it should be noted that the WWE has not been put up for sale and McMahon was only answering a question from its shareholders. According to The Inquisitr, there are a lot of factors to consider before Vinnie Mac let someone buy his life's work.

Even if McMahon steps down, the WWE is in good hands with people like his son Shane and daughter Stephanie to run the company. His son-in-law, Triple H, has taken NXT to the next level and he could also do it in the WWE if given the opportunity to.

Vince founded Titan Sports back in 1980 and he immediately acquired the WWE, known as the WWF back then, from his ailing father in 1984. The rest of it was history as the WWE became the number one company in sports entertainment.

The WWE has not had any competition since 2001 when Ted Turner and WCW folded after several years of battling for ratings. The WWE Network was launched in February 2014 and after several hard months of struggling with subscribers, it has been considered a success.

It should be noted that these are just rumors at the moment and the WWE is far from being up for sale. Nevertheless, Vince is open for anything but it would take a crazy offer to let him give up the WWE.
