Activision has confirmed that it will roll out an expansion for 'Destiny' in 2016 and release 'Destiny 2' in 2017.

Video game publisher Activision was reported to be unveiling its upcoming game "Destiny 2" next year. The much-awaited game is also expected to sport new features to deliver a better experience to the gamers.

Game Rant had learned that Activision has called a financial conference and during the event the company's CEO Eric Hirshberg has stated that "We're on track and excited about what we think is going to be an awesome sequel for 'Destiny' in 2017. No announcements today on timing just yet, but what I will say is that the sequel is designed to excite both our highly engaged current players, but also to broaden the appeal even further, bringing in new fans and bringing back old fans as well. That's our primary focus right now."

Hirshberg also said that Activision is expecting the "Destiny 2" to bring millions of new fans to the franchise. The CEO also mentioned about an additional content, which has varied over "Destiny" history from larger expansions, to smaller live events, and all-out content droughts. It was also noted that Activision and Bungie have come up with a very smart approach to deliver steady stream of new content to gamers.

Moreover, Ecumenical News reported that an insider in NeoGAF named "Shinobi602" has mentioned on his post that a major game engine changes are in the works. This could mean that visual improvements will be applied.

Aside from the technical upgrades, the sequel is also probable to build on the content already inside the original game. New enemies, factions and races are supposedly set to be presented.

Meanwhile, it can be remembered that the original game already have plenty of stories that need to be told hidden within numerous items. With this, the developers could just bring those stories to life and instantaneously produce the sequel with content that the fans are looking for.

Unluckily, the aforementioned information is just based on speculations since both Bungie and Activision haven't announced anything firm as of the moment aside from the release date of "Destiny 2" is slated next year.
