Samsung Galaxy S7 edge vs. Huawei Porsche Design Mate 9 specs and differences

Huawei announced recently two new smartphones, the Porsche Design Mate 9 and the Mate 9. The new Mate devices have a similar looks in both the rear and front view with Samsung's Galaxy S7 edge, though, there are some distinctions on both.

The Huawei Porsche Design Mate 9 is a smaller, more premium model of the Mate 9, offering a curved display and a lovely premium build when compared to the Mate 9. In addition, the Porsche Design Mate 9 scales at 169g, and measures 152x757.5mm.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge body on the other hand weighs 157g as it is made with a combination of glass and metal, and measures 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7mm. The device also offers a finger print sensor and both the smartphones comes with a physical home button on their fronts.

The display of both the smartphones makes them look similar to each other, the smartphones have a 5.5-inch curved AMOLED display and they also sport same features in resolution with 2560x1440, and delivers pixel density of 534ppi. The 534ppi deliverance promises crispy images with sharp and excellent color vibrancy for both.

According to Pocket Lint, Porsche Design Mate 9 features Huawei's Kirin 960 octa-core processor, sports Mali-G71 MP8 graphics and comes with 6GB RAM. The phone offers 256GB of internal storage but unlike the standard Mate 9 model, the device has no microSD support despite the Dual-SIM functionality.

On the other hand, Galaxy S7 Edge sports either of the two, Samsung's Exynos 8990 octa-core processor, or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 quad-core chip, depending on the region they are available in. It also comes with Adreno 530 graphics and the latter offers Mali-T880 MP12 graphics. Both phones are equipped with 4GB RAM and the storage options vary from 32GB or 64GB, both of which have microSD expansion support.

Porsche Design Mate 9 has a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor along with a 12-megapixel RGB sensor, both of which sports optical image stabilization, and a f/2.2 aperture. The Huawei's gadget also has an 8-megapixel front camera with auto-focus, GSM Arena reported.

The Galaxy S7 Edge has a single 12-megapixel camera on its back, featuring a face detection auto-focus, optical image stabilization and a f/1.7 aperture. The front camera is equipped with a 5-megapixel spotting Auto High Dynamic Range (HDR) support, and an aperture of f/1.7.

While both of these phones support quick charge options, the Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge comes with a 3,600mAh rechargeable battery while the Porsche Design Mate 9 sports a 4,000mAh rechargeable battery.

In terms of their prices, the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge starts at £639 and is widely available. The Huawei Porsche Design Mate 9 retails for €1395 and will be available in limited quantities from December.
