"World of Warcraft" private server Nostalrius is reported to be back online under another legacy project team, Elysium. Players and supporters of the unofficial legacy version of "WoW" will soon find themselves playing under new server and yet expect similar thrill and action from the game.
In retrospect, the "World of Warcraft" private server Nostalrius has been offline since April after it received a cease-and-desist letter from Blizzard. And even after the previous meeting with those behind Nostalrius, there seemed to be no update nor resolution given to solve the issues.
The gaming giant remained silent on the idea of merging back the legacy community, despite the meeting with Mike Morhaime and the "WoW" team.
"But we never received any response to these questions, even after 4 months. Then, we tried to show our motivation to solve the issues from a different angle by working on mature proposals," Polygon quoted Nostalrius admin as saying.
Since there is still no response to the concern at hand, Nostalrius admin Viper announced that the source code would be given to Elysium, an existing Legacy project that shares the same core values that of "World of Warcraft" Nostalrius private server, according to PC Gamers
According to reports, there will be a close collaboration between two entities in order to achieve their common goal. As a testament to the spirit of volunteerism, the "World of Warcraft" server promised not to receive any profit from the said activity.
In response to the announcement made by Nostalrius, Elysium in a Reddit post accepted and proudly announced the revival and continuation of what Nostalrius has started. "WoW" Elysium gratefully accepted the core and player database of Nostalrius and promised an absolute refusal to profit from it. The private server also mentioned that they will provide the players with the best server possible, especially that of one born purely from a love of the game.
With the expected completion of the new server, players are being advised ahead of time that Nostalrius character names will have the priority, which means Elysium characters may be required to rename at the character screen when time comes. Apart from that, an impending downgrade of Elysium items to match 1.9 Patch itemization of Nostalrius is also to be expected, the Reddit post likewise mentioned.
Now with the news of the revival of "World of Warcraft" Nostalrius and the development of the new server, it is to be expected that significant interest from gamers will soon manifest. And to be fair for every player, Elysium forecast of a potential stress test for both PvP and PvE realms, especially for players wanting a fresh start.
