Honduras, who placed second to Mexico in Group A during the fourth round of competitions, opened the Hexagonal with a sorry 0-1 loss to Panama also at their home field in San Pedro Sula last Friday, as per Fox News Latino.

Sporting Lisboa defender Fidel Escobar netted the lone goal of the match in the 22nd minute to give the win to the visitors. He pulled off a nifty one-on-one move that passed through the outstretched arms of Honduran goalkeeper Donis Escober.

With the loss, head coach Jorge Luis Pinto's squad is temporarily second from the last place in the overall standings at the moment.

Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago is at the cellar of the CONCACAF table after they lost their opening game against Central America powerhouse Costa Rica, 0-2, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain also last Friday, SB Nation reported.

It was a tight game from the kickoff as both sides prevented each one to score in the first half of play.

It was until the 65th-minute when Vancouver Whitecaps winger Christian Bolanos was able to break the deadlock for Costa Rica, with the assist coming from teammate Cristian Gamboa.

The Soca Warriors tried to find the equalizer in regulation, but La Sele doubled their lead two minutes into stoppage time to seal the game and hand head coach Stephen Hart's squad a loss in their Hex opener.

Trinidad and Tobago's lesser goal differential dropped them to the bottom of the six-team CONCACAF table. Together with Honduras and the United States, the three teams are currently touting zero points in the standings.
