Fans of Selena and Latin music wait at the 'Selena Vive' tribute concert, April 7, 2005, Reliant Stadium, Houston, Texas. Many of the stars of Latin music and television came to pay their respects and honor the memory of the pop star.

The love story of the late Latin music singer Selena Quintanilla, mostly known as Selena, and her husband Chris Perez may be made into a television show. Major TV and Endemol Shine North America obtained the rights to Perez's book "To Selena, With Love" for TV.

Endemol Shine North America is the firm behind shows like "Big Brother," "The Steve Harvey Show" and "The Biggest Loser." The TV adaptation of Perez's biography, "To Selena, With Love" will give a broader perspective of Selena's world when she was alive, Alt 987 reported.

Selena was fatally shot at age 23 by the founder of her fan club. Her album "Dreaming of You" sold over 5 million copies following her death.

The best-selling book "To Selena, With Love" tells the love story of the late Latin music superstar through the eyes of her husband.  The book was first published in English and Spanish in 2012.

The two studios are adapting the memoirs in Perez' book for both Spanish and English TV audiences. The TV series will also have stories, insights and details not covered in Perez' book.

Selena was among of the most influential Latin artists of all time, a Grammy Award winner who sold 60 million albums worldwide. Born in Texas, she debuted as a recording artist in the '80s and had successful albums like "Selena Live" and "Amor Prohibido." Her "Dreaming of You" album released posthumously in 1995 became a big hit.

Selena's life story was the inspiration of the movie "Selena" in 1997, which starred Jennifer Lopez taking the titular role and James Edward Olmos as the singer's father. This year marks the 21st year since the irreplaceable "Queen of Tejano" passed away on March 31, 1995. The announcement of the series comes when her products and events surged and put her back in the spotlight, Houston Chronicle reported.

In August, Madame Tussauds Hollywood revealed a Selena wax figure while the MAC Selena collection came out to the market in October. Recently, Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters worked together on a Selena-inspired fashion show.
