China Tolerates No Child Abuse: Foreign English Instructor Sacked After Taping Students' Mouths Shut

A Russian teacher at an English training center in Shanghai was fired for shutting her students' mouths shut using adhesive tape.

A 25-year-old Russian teacher was recently fired from K&H International School after supposedly "mistreating" some of the children in her class.

A statement on Saturday released by K&H Internationa Shool authorities stated that the teacher put double-sided adhesive tape over the mouths of two of her students during a class.

Ironically, the act was done in the middle of an interactive session, where students were expected to have a two-way communication flow applying the lessons they had just learned.

According to a report, the incident surfaced when the mother of one of the students called the police after her mother-in-law saw a piece of tape stuck across the mouth of the child.

Other students also informed their parents that the same instance had happened on multiple occasions, with the students being "too noisy" as the teacher's justification.

A news report from Shanghai TV revealed that the said teacher had just received her working visa and professional approval last month, but had been working at the school for a year already.

Moreover, the international school's branch in Changning was reportedly operating without a business license.

The school has since issued a statement apologizing to the parents regarding the incident.

However, with the emergence of an equally, if not more alarming concern regarding the legitimacy of the school as a business entity, some parents of the students from the Russian teacher's class were already demanding for a tuition refund.

The school has yet to release further statements.
