Here is the new Android 7.1 Nougat release news for Samsung Galaxy S6, S7 Edge, Pixel C, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X.  

There is a custom ROM available for download to make the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge running the latest Android operating system.

N7 Pixel Edition is a custom ROM particularly designed for S7 Edge with the model number SM-G935F. Users should make sure that the handset bears the exact number to prevent any crash in the system, Team Android reported. They can check it through Settings menu and select About Device.

It is important to note that this is not an official firmware pushed out by the tech giant Samsung to its devices. But owners who cannot wait to taste the features of Android Nougat can download the custom ROM straight away.

Android N update on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge needs 1.2 GB of space. Owners should free the device's internal memory and ensure that the battery is 80%.

It is recommended that owners should perform data backup prior to the installation as everything in the system will be removed.

The beta program for the company's selected handsets has started to roll out. According to various reports, Samsung Galaxy S7 family will be the first in line to get the newest Android N update.

Furthermore, according to a GSM Arena report, Samsung Galaxy S6 was spotted running the newest Android operating system during the beta testing.

In October, the search giant Google rolled out Android 7.1 N developer preview for Pixel C, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X devices. Now, Google has rolled out the Android 7.1. N Developer Preview 2 for handsets that got the earlier developer preview.

According to Google, the Developer Preview 2 will be the final developer preview release before it begins pushing out Android 7.1.1 N platform to its ecosystem.

The software company said that with Developer Preview 2, users can ensure that their apps are ready for Android 7.1.1 Nougat and they will be running it on their devices soon.

The Developer Preview 2 comes with near-final system behaviors and user interface together with the newest bug fixes and optimizations across Google apps and the system.

To get the Android 7.1.1 Developer Preview 2 on their handset, users can sign up for Google's Android Beta Program and get the update OTA.
