Rare reveals their latest video game title called "Sea of Thieves."

"Seas of Thieves" details about personal combat, shooting, swordfighting and more were revealed by Rare. Fans are excited about the recent news and they are glad the game company gave an update.

Lead designer Mike Chapman posted on the official forums about the video game's several new details. He said that most people have been asking about personal combat and how would the development team approach this in terms of variety of weaponry.

Chapman explained that it is a video game with guns and swords, but it is not all about that only. He revealed that the team wanted the game to support different motivations and lifestyles. When combat happens, it should feel right for the pirate experience they will be creating, but it should also fully support some encounters that will happen while on a voyage.

The development team felt that too much on-screen UI could get in the way of being immersed in the world, Chapman said. The lead designer also said that it would not feel appropriate for "Sea of Thieves."

Chapman revealed that both of their cannons and guns will not have a UI crosshair. The players will have to use the weapons to aim a target since crosshairs could imply a level of precision, which does not feel appropriate for a pirate weapon.

When players aim with their weapons, this means that the pace of combat should be slowed down, Chapman explained. Just like in a pirate movie, characters would typically choose to stand in place to fire a considered shot. He also said that the characters will not have their guns aimed actively in the game and will have its barrels pointed upwards or close to their bodies.

Players will need to reload, which has contributed to the video game since the guns are single shot. They have to reload after each shot, which make them vulnerable to any attack.

Chapman clarified that their development team wanted the sword combat in the video game to feel right. They did not want to use excessive UI elements, they wanted to maintain first person view, and it needed to work together with the other mechanics in the game.

According to the official forums of NeoGAF, several fans reacted to the recent update for "Sea of Thieves." They were delighted of the combat system, but one member said that he would not mind a third person perspective during sword combat.
