The first high-speed railway(HSR) to pass through the Three Gorges reservoir region started operating on Nov. 29. With a designed speed of 250km/hour, HSR travel cuts the journey from Wanzhou to Chongqing from four hours to one-and-a-half. Travel between Wanzhou and Chengdu has also been halved to three-and-a-half hours with a new line connecting Chengdu and Chongqing.
