| Dec 01, 2016 04:11 PM EST

Actor Gong Yoo attends the 'Train To Busan' photocall during the 69th Annual Cannes Film Festival on May 14, 2016 in Cannes, France.

Ahead of "Goblin" premiere, tvN revealed that the first two episodes of the drama will have a longer runtime than the regular one. It will be aired for 90 minutes each, as it aims to introduce the titular character and recount the story of how Gong Yoo's character became a goblin.

"For all the viewers that have waited for 'Goblin,' we decided on two 90-minute episodes in order to show an even higher quality drama," a representative from tvN said in a statement obtained by Soompi. "You'll be seeing a grand historical background to three-dimensional characters, and spectacular views, with shorts from Quebec, Canada."

It is said that the cast and staff members traveled to Quebec City, Canada to shoot the scenic cemetery scenes of the series and used various computer graphics for special effects. In the first two episodes, fans can expect the goblin, Kim Shin (Gong), shows up at first as a military officer dressed in period armor and then as a modern day man with his true identity in disguise.

Kim Shin was cast as a traitor some 900 years ago and put under a spell of eternal life. The only way to break the spell is to meet a human bride who will pull the dagger out of his heart and end his life.

Opposite Gong is actress Kim Go-Eun. She has been cast to play a high school senior, Ji Eun-Tak, who remains optimistic despite her painful reality.

In a statement obtained by Sports Donga, producer Yoon Ha-Rim of Hwa and Dam Pictures said they were preparing to make "Goblin" for three years even before "Descendants of the Sun" was made. He is confident that the upcoming series will be another kind of drama for the viewers both at home and abroad.

"Goblin" is intended to hit the airwaves on Dec. 2 at 8:00 PM (KST). Check out the trailer here:
