John Cena salutes the crowd at WWE SummerSlam 2015.

John Cena is slowly becoming the next WWE superstar who will make it big in Hollywood after Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Dave "Batista" Bautista. He is set to star in a new comedy film next year but the latest rumors imply that WWE officials are unhappy about it.

As reported by Variety.com, Cena will appear as one of the main characters in the 2017 film titled "The Pact." He stars alongside Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz. The story is about parents trying to prevent their daughters from losing their virginities on prom night.

It will be Cena's third comedy film following his roles on "Trainwreck" and "Sisters." The 15-time WWE champion has been having a busy year as he hosted two huge awards shows and filmed the second season of his television show.

The 39-year-old is currently off of WWE television and he is set to return at a WWE Live Event after Christmas in New York City. However, his new film might not be what the WWE wanted since it will cause Cena to miss more time next year.

According to Cageside Seats, there is already tension between Cena and WWE management regarding the pay for part-time superstars. The leader of the Cenation is still the highest paid superstar in the WWE but he wants to get paid just like a part-timer.

Nevertheless, there is a rumored backstage heat on Cena for taking another role. It might cause some changes to WrestleMania 33 plans wherein he is scheduled to face The Undertaker or win his 16th WWE World Championship.

The problem for the WWE is if the filming of "The Pact" conflicts with WrestleMania 33. Vince McMahon also reportedly told the creative team to develop plans just in case it happens. However, the current plan is still Cena vs. The Undertaker at the biggest stage of them all next year.

It should be noted that Cena getting some mainstream attention is not bad for the WWE. The problem for the company is they have not created a new star that will replace Cena when he officially becomes a part-time superstar.

Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are not fully over as the next face of the company while A.J. Styles is the same age as Cena. Nevertheless, the WWE has to prepare for the inevitable: Cena leaving the WWE for Hollywood.
