Metallica to Rock Shanghai and Beijing in January; Tickets Already Sold Out

Metallica will be touring China and other Asian countries in January.

The famous heavy metal band Metallica is set to perform in Shanghai and Beijing on Jan. 17 and 18, respectively.

According to AEG Live, tickets for the two performances are already sold out.

The rock band will also be going to South Korea, Singapore, and Hong Kong as part of their WorldWired Tour.

There were 20,000 tickets on sale in China and half of it was already sold out in a matter of minutes. Tickets were also sold out during the first time the band was in the country in 2013.

The band will be performing at the LeSports Center.

Lars Ulrich, Metallica's drummer, said in a recorded video released by AEG Live, "Ni Hao, Beijing. I am just sharing with you that Metallica is very excited to come to play in Beijing for the very first time."

The heavy metal group who is behind hits like "Enter Sandman" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls" will be performing their record hit classics as well as new songs from their new album "Hot Wired...to Self-Destruct."

The new album is a two-CD and two Vinyl set. This is the band's their sixth number one album on the Billboard Top 200 and debuted at number one in 23 countries.

Metallica was founded in 1981 by Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield in Los Angeles, California. They are known to be one of the pillars of thrash metal along with Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer.

In 2014, they performed their hit song "One" with Chinese pianist Lang Lang at the 56th Annual Grammy Music Awards.

The group has sold 110 million albums since 1981.

Ticket prices range from 480 yuan ($70) to 1,980 yuan, and went on sale at 2 p.m. on Dec. 13.
