Jung was also a producer of the indie film. As to why he decided to produce "Don't Forget Me," he told Yonhap News that he wanted to protect the director's original ideas. He explained that many of the producers he introduced to Lee had an issue with the "core of the scenario," which intimidated a lot of producers.
"They tried to change her work, so I started wondering how I could help, and that's how I got to produce it," Jung said about what got him to produce "Don't Forget Me." He added that if other producers took the reins on the project, it would have turned out plain.
The movie is a longer version of the short film "Remember You," which was released in 2010 and also directed by Lee Yoon Jung.
