Men in the IT industry, previously considered awkward and nerdy, are having an improved image among women.

Male IT professionals in China are becoming increasingly popular as ideal partners among Chinese women.

According to Beijing-based relationship counselor Caroline Li, a survey she conducted with her colleagues on the ideal boyfriend or husband in 2015 revealed that more women are eyeing homebodies who prioritize families over careers.

Li said that IT men are perceived as typical homebodies who have less social activities and can go home after work.

She noted that career-driven men who make a lot of money used to be the ideal until more women are becoming career-minded and tied up in work that they tend to choose homebodies who could spend more time taking care of the family.

Men in the IT industry were seen as romantically disadvantaged due to the impression that they were nerdy and who often stay home.

In fact, sina.com reported in Nove. 2012 that there is a high degree of probability for IT men working to remain single for lack of social skills.

There is also a lack of female employees in the industry is another cause for their romantic predicament, as they hardly have any chance meeting a partner on or off the job.

Li suggested that men in the IT industry should rely more on other methods to show their affection, such as dating their wives or girlfriends on a romantic dinner in fancy restaurants or giving nice little gifts.

She added that while they don't need to have an amazing fashion sense, they should pay more attention to their appearance and at least be clean, otherwise will be impossible to attract girls.

IT men could also use their time in front of computers by being more active on social media platforms to meet more people of the opposite sex.
