After over a decade, Vin Diesel finally dusts off his other persona as the extreme sports field operative Xander Cage in the upcoming "XXX" follow-up that will be shelled out early next year.
The franchise's latest offering is likely to follow the bits of humor being blurted out in a couple of his "Fast and Furious" films while staying on track with the type of action that the "XXX" films are known for. However, iDigital Times highlighted that some of the action sequences and stunts in the forthcoming installment seem to have gone overboard this time around. One of the notable scenes is where Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) breaks a high-powered rifle in half using his knee.
Albeit the second film being pretty much of a disaster at the box office, the producers of the franchise still maintained the extreme sports feel of the upcoming film now that most of the films that come out as of late are riddled with super powered beings that are out to stop an intergalactic threat.
Meanwhile, Movie Web stated that singer-songwriter Nicky Jam will be entering the fray as Lazarus in the new "XXX." As the second teaser trailer suggests, Jam's character will be in aid of Xander in the latter's exploits in the film. Moreover, the report also said that Xander, together with his unlikely team will be doing a bit of globetrotting as they are on a mission to obtain an undisclosed weapon that goes by the moniker Pandora's Box before it is unleashed by a yet to be known antagonist.
Having that said, Diesel will be joined by "Ong Bak" star Tony Jaa, Nina Dobrev, MMA champion Conor McGregor, Donnie Yen, and Deepika Padukone. Samuel L. Jackson, on the other hand, will reprise his role as the NSA agent Augustus Gibbons.
"XXX: Return of Xander Cage" will be rolled out to cinemas on Jan. 20, 2017.
