The WWE is heading towards next year with a lot of plans in hand as they try to sustain the momentum they got in the last couple of months. One of those plans is turning a top tag team heel after WrestleMania 33.

According to Ringside News, there are plans to turn The New Day heels sometime after WrestleMania 33 next year. Many fans were hoping that the WWE will finally break the trio up but it is not going to happen anytime soon.

The report noted that The New Day have an upcoming book to be released in April. The company needs to promote it so a breakup or a heel turn is a not a great way to it. But after the book's release, there are plans to turn them bad guys again.

The New Day were the longest-reigning tag team in history after breaking Demolition's record of 478 days last Monday. However, they lost the titles at Roadblock: End of the Line against the team of Sheamus and Cesaro.

In the middle of their title reign when they were up against The Wyatt Family, there were rumors of Vince McMahon splitting The New Day up, per PW Mania. However, it did not happen as the trio's merchandise sales were still up the charts.

The trio of Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E. are still over than most tag teams on the main roster. They are still entertaining and they are finding ways to stay relevant. Also, as long as they keep moving merchandise, they are going to be working together.

A heel turn is not a bad idea since it keeps the group fresh and they have worked as bad guys before. When The New Day was formed in 2014, they were portrayed as a babyface black gospel group that got no reaction from the crowd.

The WWE almost dropped the ball on them but the trio was given the green light to be themselves on television. They finally turned into goofy heels last year as they became one of the most entertaining acts in the past decade.

Eventually, The New Day will break up but they could also take over Monday Night Raw as a collective unit. Woods could win the Cruiserweight title, Kingston goes after the United States championship and Big E. set his sights on the big red belt.
