"Shadowhunters" Season 2 is set to show beloved characters' new challenges when the Freeform series returns to the small screens in 2017. Avid fans will soon witness Jace's (Dominic Sherwood) journey as he discovers more about his father Valentine (Alan van Sprang) and himself.
Jace is set to tap into his dark side when "Shadowhunters" Season 2 airs its first episode on Freeform. Viewers can expect to see Jace struggle with the aftermath of his decision to join his father and Valentine's quest to rule the world with his own team of Shadowhunters.
However, joining Valentine's army and trying to support his father's plans will only serve as a precursor to some of the bad things that Jace will experience in the upcoming new season. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sherwood teased that his character's new journey will feature some difficult scenarios for Jace.
Given Valentine's revelation that the said protagonist is his son which makes Jace and Clary (Katherine McNamara) brother and sister, Jace will have a hard time accepting the information that his father gave him. Without Jace's friends to support him during the one of the most difficult times in his life, the said character will find himself lost and unsure of who he really is.
Sherwood added, "[Jace] really has no support system anymore because his friends aren't with him, he can't get to them. He's really a fish out of water and in a bit of trouble at the beginning of season 2."
Showrunner Ed Decter also teased in an earlier interview with TVLine that Jace will take a "very dark journey" in the upcoming new season of the series. He even warned that avid fans of the Freeform series should be "very worried" about the said character given the challenges that he will face as part of Valentine's army.
"Shadowhunters" Season 2 will premiere on Jan. 2, 2017 on Freeform. Learn more about the upcoming new season in the clip below:
