Carrie Fisher portrayed Princess Leia Organa in the 'Star Wars' film series.

The year 2016 is a sad one for Hollywood as well-known celebrities took their final bow breaking the hearts of their respective fans. Another addition to the long roster is Carrie Fisher who fought her best but unfortunately lost from another cardiac episode while hospitalized.

The 60-year-old actress and author died at 8:35 a.m on Dec. 27, Tuesday, at the UCLA Medical Center after suffering from another cardiac arrest while still on a ventilator. This made family members believe that the medical episode that happened to Fisher while on board the transatlantic flight was not a heart attack.

It was also revealed that the actress's condition never recovered during her hospitalization. Moreover, loved ones even thought of taking away her life support, but Fisher's heart stopped beating yet again that resulted in her demise, TMZ reported.

The beloved princess of the "Star Wars" mythos is said to have finished filming her part in the next film installment of the space opera film series initially known to its fandom as "Episode 8." She is also slated to reprise her role as General Leia Organa in the ninth episode of the movie franchise whose production will commence in 2018, according to Variety.

Apart from "Star Wars," Fisher also finished filming one of the episodes of the British sitcom "Catastrophe." She plays the role of Mia who is the mother of the show's main character, Rob Norris who is assumed by Rob Delaney. Showrunner and actress Sharon Horgan took to Instagram to express her grief on her co-star and friend's untimely demise.

For the uninitiated, Fisher was also part of the twisted animated series "Family Guy" as she is the voice behind Angela who is the boss of Peter Griffin (Seth McFarlane) at the Pawtucket Brewing Company. McFarlane even posted a tweet expressing how they will miss the iconic actress.

Here is a clip from "Family Guy" where Fisher voiced over the Pawtucket boss, Angela:
