Rockstar Games is still pretty quiet about the development of the upcoming "Red Dead Redemption 2" game. However, it is still confirmed for release sometime late 2017.

It seems that some retailers have started reporting that they have received "Red Dead Redemption 2" posters and cardboard boxes that has the game's promotional artwork on them. Written on all of the cardboard boxes are the words "Autumn 2017" as well as the PEGI 18 gaming rating logo, according to RDR2.

There is still no definite list of retailers that have these promotional items regardless of the country. The only proofs of its existence are the posters and other promotional materials that were posted online so far. The images were from a United Kingdom-based GAME store, but it is likely that the posters have appeared in the United States as well as some other countries.

It is possible that this is because Rockstar would want to start early with offline marketing to broaden the means of getting order revenue while expanding the game's reach within conventional means. After all, non-hardcore gamers are less likely to use online channels.

It is not the first time for game publishers to use offline channels to make a game hyped up far ahead of its release day. Activision launched an aggressive store campaign for the "Destiny" game the day it was announced, according to WWG. The campaign started a year and a half before the game was released.

The campaign ended in success, and the way "Red Dead Redemption 2" is headed right now, it may end the same. This will ensure that the people will be ready once the gameplay reveal is released in 2017.

"Red Dead Redemption 2" will release in autumn 2017 for the PS4 and Xbox One. The PC version has yet to be confirmed.
