NBA trade rumors: Goran Dragic, Brandon Knight, potential trade candidates

Goran Dragic of the Miami Heat drives against Paul Millsap #4 and Dwight Howard #8 of the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena on December 7, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia.

As the National Basketball Association approaches the second half of its season, the trade rumor mill continues to swirl as teams look to bolster their roster for a push on a possible playoff spot. NBA squads are looking for assets and these names might be on the news once the NBA trade deadline draws closer:

Slovenian baller Goran Dragic is in his third year with the Miami Heat but his team is nowhere to be found in the Eastern Conference playoff race as the Heat resides at 13th place after the departure of former star guard Dwayne Wade. The Heat are not title contenders and if Dragic would be on the trading block, it would just make sense if Miami wants to exchange for younger players who have a high upside rather that the 30-year-old guard who seems to have reached his peak, according to Yahoo Sports.

Also, Dragic has a depreciating value as he heads into father time and it is the right time for the Heat to ship the former NBA Most Improved Player for a set of younger cogs. If he ever gets traded, teams could benefit from his 18.8 points and 6.7 assists per game.

On the other hand, Brandon Knight has been included in hundreds of trade talks with the Phoenix Suns having a logjam on their backcourt. This season, Knight's minutes and production has decreased after scoring only 12.7 points in 23.0 minutes compared to his 19.6 point average in 36 minutes in 2016 with the emergence of Devin Booker on the two-guard spot. The Suns looks like they are building around Booker for the future and Knight's tenure could end soon, according to ESPN.

The combo guard could be on the move into either the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks or the Miami Heat. Once the trade deadline comes closer, Knight's name might ring louder.
