Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar of 'Cruel Intentions' pose for a shot at MTV Movie Awards 2000 at Sony Pictures Studio in Culver City, CA on June 03, 2000.

The "Cruel Intentions" TV series is unfortunately not happening. The TV sequel to the 1999 Sarah Michelle Gellar-starrer was dropped by NBC as the network could not find the right spot for the show in its busy schedule. Contrary to rumors that the "Cruel Intentions" TV show has found a new home, it appears that the whole project has been axed entirely.

NBC developed two pilots for the "Cruel Intentions" TV series - one was rougher while the other was tamer. At the time, NBC was extending casting options to allow more time to find a more suitable schedule for the show. NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said of the "Cruel Intentions" delay, "It was really a space issue and we had a spot for a big great soap. This Is Us seemed to fit better so we started looking for opportunities in mid-season, possibly summer for the show."

"So right now we wanted to make sure we have the show because I'm determined to find a place to put it. We wouldn't have held that talent if we didn't have every intention of finding the opportunity for the show," /FILM quoted Salke as saying.

The "Cruel Intentions" TV series cast would still have original cast member Sarah Michelle Gellar; however, the other characters have been recast and new characters will be introduced. The show already enlisted stars Taylor John Smith, Bryce Cass, Coby Bell, Sophina Brown, Samathan Logan and Kate Levering.

According to TVLine, the "Cruel Intentions" TV show would be set 16 years after the events of the 1999 TV show would be set 16 years after the events of the 1999 "Cruel Intentions" movie with Annette (Levering) raising her and Sebastian's son Bash in Ohio. She then encounters Sebastian's sister Kathyrn (Gellar) when Bash head to San Diego to learn more about his father.

The 1999 "Cruel Intentions" film starred Gellar, Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Philippe and Selma Blair in sexy retelling of "Les Liaisons Dangereuses." The story centers on rich teens living in upscale New York where their lives are peppered with sex, drugs and money.
