UFC news: Who should Carlos Condit face in UFC return?

| Jan 12, 2017 12:30 PM EST

UFC fighters Carlos Condit and Anthony Pettis attend the Fox Hispanic Media Upfront at Ziegfeld Theatre on May 16, 2012 in New York City.

Carlos Condit, despite losing two fights in a row, including one title bout, is only 32 years old and is still a title contender in the welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Condit will be back in the Octagon and here are three possible opponent for the return of 'The Natural Born Killer:'

1. Robbie Lawler

Lawler beat Condit via split decision at UFC 195 on Jan. 2, 2016 to defend his welterweight belt before eventually surrendering the title to Tyron Woodley at UFC 201 on July 30, 2016. Both men are coming from defeat with Condit suffering a submission loss to Demian Maia in August and it is fitting that they both go again at each other since their last fight took five rounds and a close decision. A rematch between the two sluggers will surely be a sight to see with their latest bout being named as 2016 Fight of the Year by MMA Fighting.

2. Johny Hendricks

The 'Bigg Rigg' went winless in 2016 by losing all of his three fights while Condit is coming from back-to-back defeats. Both fighters have already faced each other in 2013 with Hendricks taking the win and a rematch would be practical for both sides to end their own losing streaks. Hendricks has slipped in UFC.com fighter rankings by five spots as he now resides at 11th place and a win against Condit, who is ranked fourth, would do well for his career.

3. Neil Magny

Magny, ranked eighth in the division, lost to Lorenz Larkin at UFC 202 and needs to beat a fighter in the top five to boost his chances of getting a shot at the title. Condit, on the other hand, needs to redeem himself and locking horns against the 29-years-old might do just that. With both known to be excellent strikers, a Magny-Condit bout would be a clash of punches and kicks.
