Good news for Moto Z Play users as the much awaited Android Nougat update will land their devices sooner than expected.
It was earlier reported by Phandroid that Moto Z Play will get its Android N update on March 4, after Koodo Mobile hinted the said date of arrival; however, a tweet from Moto Deutschland contradicted the March 4 Android N rollout for Moto Z and Moto Z Force's younger brother.
According to the company's twitter post, Moto Z Play will soon get the latest update on its operating system, replacing its Marshmallow OS. It is said that the Android update will be pushed earlier to end of January.
Since Moto Z Play will soon get the taste of Android Nougat, users will also taste 3 important features that the new OS' offers, such as multiple windows support, enhanced notifications and battery efficiency.
According to ITPro, with multi windows support, Moto Z Play users will be able to open multiple windows on a single display. Aside from being able to open apps in split view, multi window view can also support picture in picture mode, wherein one app window can float on top of everything else.
With enhanced notifications, on the other hand, Moto Z Play users will be able to conveniently receive incoming messages notifications without leaving the notification shade. Furthermore, users will also be able to receive group notifications.
In terms of battery efficiency, Android Nougat update in Moto Z Play will allow users to use Doze feature. The Doze feature, which was initially introduced in Android Marshmallow, saves battery life when the device is stationary or in notion. The said feature applies restrictions to cpu and networks if the device's screen is off, and once the screen is on, the device will automatically get out of Doze mode.
Other than the aforementioned features above, Android N will also support and bring in improved Java 8 language, Vulcan API Support, Instant Apps, Daydream VR and more to Moto Z Play device.
