In the evening of Jan. 15, Monday, 20 Miss Universe 2016 candidates participated in a fashion show at Calle Crisologo and Plaza Burgos in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. The candidates exhibited ternos or dresses made by Filipino designers using abel Iloko fabric.
The dresses are similar to the gowns typically worn by Philippine candidates as their national costume for international beauty pageants. One distinctive feature of the gowns is its butterfly sleeves.
LCS Group of Companies' Chavit Singson and Philippine Tourism Undersecretary Kat de Castro accompanied Miss Universe Organization executives at the fashion show in Vigan, ABS-CBN News reported. With its Filipino-Oriential-European architecture, the city has been inscribed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in the World Heritage List Since 1999.
"They're doing very well," GMA News quoted Miss Universe President Paula Shugart as saying referring to the candidates. "I thought it's really great."
For Shugart, the Miss Universe 2016 candidates are "very blessed" and "very special" to have the opportunity to compete in the Philippines. Here are the 11 candidates the author things performed best during the event:

The other candidates who participated in the fashion show were Miss Belgium Stephanie Geldof, Miss Bulgaria Violina Ancheva, Miss Cayman Islands Monyque Brooks, Miss Guatemala Virginia Alejandro Argueta, Miss Malaysia Kiran Jassal, Miss Slovak Republic Zuzana Kollarova, Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane, Miss Uruguay Magdalena Cohendet and Miss Vietnam Dang Thi Le Hang.
