Espanyol is on a downward spiral at the moment with three consecutive winless matches. The Periquitos are coming off a 1-2 loss to lowly club Valencia on the road at the Mestalla Stadium last Sunday for their second defeat in three games, as per ESPN.

Valencia defender Martin Montoya broke the game's deadlock early in the 17th minute of the contest with a close-range right-footer off an assist by Portuguese midfielder Nani.

The hosts were able to double the lead in the 73rd minute with a goal by Spanish forward Santi Mina.

Head coach Quique Sánchez Flores' side netted a consolation goal with five minutes left before full-time, courtesy of midfielder David Lopez, to avoid a shutout loss.

Meanwhile, a nine-man Granada squad was able to escape with a 1-1 draw against fellow bottom three side Osasuna at the Los Cármenes Stadium also last Sunday, via Sporting Life.

Osasuna opened the scoring in the 12th minute of the match with a right-footed shot by Spanish forward Oriol Riera from the right side of the box with the assist coming from compatriot midfielder Alex Berenguer.

It took head coach Lucas Alcaraz's squad until the 69th minute to find the equalizer as Ukrainian striker Artem Kravets buried his own right-footer from close range.

After that Granada's Uche Agbo and Ezequiel Ponce were sent off in the 73rd and 90th+5 minutes, but the hosts was still able to keep the tie and a share of a point in the standings.
