Another show that is creating headlines and gaining huge viewership is the Amazon Prime's show "Sneaky Pete" casting Giovanni Ribisi as "Pete". It is a 10-episode drama series was piloted in September last year. It is believed that the story is so intriguing that once you start watching, it is impossible to stop.
The reason for its high popularity is that it is easy to follow and fun to watch. It is quite easy to remember the characters' relationships, unlike in "Game of Thrones" or "The Crown" where it becomes a full-time job to keep track of characters to be able to understand the show. But it is also true that the show is not one of those intricate series and also does not have the grandeur that these shows require, yet have managed to amuse the audience.
According to the review in Los Angeles Times, the story revolves around a con artist Marius (Giovanni Ribisi) after he has completed his serving time in New York prison. But, even though he would be free, he is not entirely happy because freedom for him would mean dealing with Vince (Bryan Cranston) whom he owes $100,000. So Marius has a good reason to hide, and he even manages to do that by assuming his cellmate Pete's identity, who is still in jail. Since the family has not seen the real Pete in the last 20 years, therefore, it becomes easier for him to settle with his family in Connecticut who runs bail bond business.
The biggest challenge for Marius is to find a way to pay his debt to Vince, while he is conning Pete's family as Vince is holding his younger brother Eddie (Micheal Drayer) as collateral.
Sneaky Pete was supposed to be produced by CBS as per the commitment made by them in November 2014. The pilot episode was also shot in New York in March 2015. However, later the CBS production team canceled the show.
As per the reports in Vanity Fair, after many discussions, Amazon picked up the show. With some minor changes in the story and some reshoots, the pilot was released on Aug. 7, 2015. The remaining episodes are planned to be aired post-January 13, 2017.
