Samsung has started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat update to Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge devices, the regular users of Samsung's flagship smartphones. The long-awaited rollout update comes just two months after it was made available to those on Samsung Galaxy beta program.

In its official website, the Korean tech giant revealed that the official rollout began on Jan. 17 but it did not reveal what markets this applies to. Although based on the beta program that kicked off in November, it may apply to the United States, the United Kingdom and South Korea at the very least while other markets should be receiving the upgrade, as well.

The Android 7.0 update comes with a handful of customizations to all Samsung phones, among them an always-on display (AOD), quick panel notifications and performance mode that promises to increase battery life and also enhance speed. This update was first launched in beta back in March 2016 and was released on Google's Nexus-branded handsets in August.

Android 7.1 Nougat was then introduced alongside Google's newest Pixel-branded flagship phones. Traditionally, Samsung has been slow when it comes to picking up on the latest version of Android, so kicking off its beta program immediately after its official launch was encouraging.

Other Galaxy-branded handsets will receive some Nougat experience in the first half of 2017. Users of Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note5, S6 Edge (Plus), Galaxy Tab A, Galaxy A3, Galaxy A8 and Galaxy Tab S2 devices will also enjoy the update.

According to a leaked screenshot by The Android Soul, the update will begin rolling out on Jan. 17 and it will bear model number SM-G935F. Later on, the update will be released in a soak test to some users of the smartphones who took part in the voluntary beta testing program for the software.

The Android Nougat update for the smartphones Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge was reportedly suspended due to multiple bugs in the software. However, Samsung replaced it with another beta version which indicated there was some issues with the previously released build although it was unclear whether the problems were specific to the Chinese market only.
