'Resident Evil 7' supports Xbox Play Anywhere: Xbox head Phil Spencer

'Resident Evil 7: Biohazard' is a survival horror video game developed and published by Capcom.

"Resident Evil 7" will become a part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program for the PC and Xbox One platforms. This is confirmed by the head of Xbox Phil Spencer through Twitter.

The announcement basically says that the digital version of the game on Xbox One will automatically give fans the Windows 10 version on PC and vice versa. Also, game saves as well as all other game elements can be switched between the PC and Xbox One versions, which is a powerful factor to convince buyers to pick it instead of its PS4 counterpart.

However, the Xbox Play Anywhere program is a Windows 10 exclusive, meaning that copies of the game bought through Steam or some digital marketplaces will not receive this benefit, according to Game Rant. Regardless, the prospect of getting a Triple-A title in two platforms for the price of one is enticing.

It is interesting how the "Resident Evil 7" game's addition to the Play Anywhere program will affect the Xbox One and Windows 10 version sales in comparison to the PS4. After all, the PlayStation VR support and its superior graphics in PS4 Pro make it seem more attractive to gamers. With the program, however, the game has more monetary value for both Xbox One and Windows 10 users.

"Resident Evil 7" is one of the first third-party games to be added to the Xbox Play Anywhere program. It is not the first, as indie games "Ark: Survival Evolved," "Astroneer," and "We Happy Few" have the feature as well, according to Engadget. With this, various big game publishers are sure to watch how the feature affects its sales. If the feature results to more success for the game on the PC and the Xbox One, it is highly likely that other publishers will use it in the future.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" releases on Jan. 24 for the PC, PS4, PS VR and Xbox One. Here is the latest trailer for the game.
