Fresh reports reveal that since Samsung Galaxy S8 will get the entire initial supply of Snapdragon 835, the LG G6 will not be featuring it.
The Snapdragon 835 is the most powerful chipset manufactured by Qualcomm for mobile devices. Hence, 2017 flagship smartphones are expected to feature the next generation chipset. This chipset is arriving as successor for Snapdragon 820 and 821 chipsets that have most of the flagships that were released in 2016.
According to Forbes, Qualcomm will be producing large number of Snapdragon 835 SoCs after April. It indicates that Qualcomm wants to focus the initial supply of SD 835 chipset mainly to Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone that is expected to release on April 14 in South Korea.
The reason behind U.S. chip maker's decision to provide the entire initial supply of Snapdragon 835 to Galaxy S8 smartphones is that it wants to ensure Samsung does not encounter shortage of the next generation chipset. Since Galaxy S8 will be getting the entire initial supply of Snapdragon 835, other smartphone manufacturers that are going to release high-end smartphones before April will have to make use of Snapdragon 821 chipset or other processors from other chip makers.
Since LG G6 is expected to get unveiled next month, it is very likely that the South Korean company would be powering it with Snapdragon 821. Even though it is not as powerful as Snapdragon 835, it powers several smartphones like Google Pixel, Google Pixel XL, LG V20, Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus.
Rumors have it since Galaxy S8 much of SD 835's initial supply, the HTC U Ultra was launched with Snapdragon 821 chipset. The rumor mill has not revealed much information on the successor device for HTC 10. It is said that the HTC U Ultra is the high-end smartphone from the Taiwanese company for the first half of 2017.
LG has claimed in a teaser video that the LG G6 will be an ideal smartphone that will be coming with most preferred features like a larger display for multi-tasking, an amazing dual camera system, water resistant chassis and a battery that does not overheat at higher temperatures. However, it may not be an ideal smartphone without the most powerful chipset, Phone Arena reported.
